On behalf of the local organising committee we warmly invite
you to attend the 4th International Bacterial Wilt Symposium
(IBWS2006) in York, England, UK, 17th-20th July, 2006.
IBWS2006
will focus on all aspects of bacterial wilt, encompassing
the latest research into the diversity, pathogenicity and
genetics of Ralstonia solanacearum, its epidemiology
and means of control with particular regard to issues relating
to quarantine and bio-terroism. The Symposium will also cover
similar plant diseases such as banana bacterial wilt caused
by Xanthomonas campetris pv. musacearum.
IBWS2006
aims to provide participants of World-wide distribution an
opportunity to share information and interact with each other
in order to contribute towards effective and sustainable disease
management and ultimately to strengthen global food security.
The Symposium
will be held within the conference facilities of the Central
Science Laboratory (CSL), York (http://www.csl.gov.uk).
CSL, an Executive Agency of the UK Government Department for
Environment Food and Rural Affairs, is located in Sand Hutton
approximately 7 miles (11km) north-east of historic York which
has excellent road and rail links to the rest of the UK.
York has
a rich cultural heritage that dates back to Roman times. The
city's historic centre contains many outstanding examples
of medieval architecture and is dominated by York Minster,
one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. During the
Symposium there will be ample opportunity to explore the city
and it's surrounding countryside.
We have
sought to keep the registration fee as low as possible to
allow as many people as possible to attend the conference.
However, we can only cater for a maximum of 150 participants
and recommend early registration to avoid disappointment.
Accommodation in local hotels has been organised through the
local tourist information office and daily travel between
these hotels and the Symposium venue will be provided. Our
website has all the details and will be updated regularly.
We look
forward to seeing you at IBWS2006!
